GRAND COTEAU, La. – Today, more than 300 students, faculty, staff, parents, and alums of The Academy of the Sacred Heart and Berchmans Academy participated in a Global Day of Service on September 11.

Members of the Sacred Heart community engaged in a variety of service projects ranging from cemetery cleanup to nursing home visits to construction projects with Habitat for Humanity, all of which resulted in 1000 hours of community service.

The Academy and Berchmans Academy are part of a national and international network of Sacred Heart schools with 24 schools in the United States and Canada and more than two hundred internationally.

All schools in the Sacred Heart network around the world participated in the Global Day of Service. The date marked the anniversary of the day St. Philippine Duchesne opened the first Sacred Heart school in the New World, the Academy of the Sacred Heart in St. Charles, Missouri.
