Firefighters with the Scott Fire Department report no injuries were reported in a fire this afternoon.
The fire happened at a home in the 200 block of Debonnaire Road in Scott, Chief Chad Sonnier says.
An investigation into the incident revealed a guest noticed smoke in the bedroom area, and alerted the occupant. The occupant then made an unsuccessful attempted to extinguish the fire with an extinguisher, at which point all of the occupants exited the structure, alerting 911.
The fire has been determined to be accidental in nature, starting in the bedroom. The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Red Cross has been contacted to assist the five-person family, the chief said.
