Move the Mindset was in downtown Lafayette as part of their Juneteenth celebration.
Wednesday’s gathering, celebrating “Freedom Day in Lafayette,” took place on Jefferson and Lee Streets near the General Mouton statue.
The event included guest speakers and musical entertainment.
The focus of the night, Juneteenth, celebrates the liberation of slaves in the Southern U.S. Guest speakers stood outside of Lafayette City Hall asking attendees to remember the work and lives of the slaves who were freed.
