The local food economy is getting a spotlight thanks to a two-day summit bringing growers,distributors, restaurants, and the general public together.
Monday, the inaugural South Louisiana Food Summit kicked off with a look at the work done in food industry and networking. The tour on Monday took attendees to rice, cattle and crawfish farms in the Acadiana area to showcase the production of goods that travel from “farm to table.”
The hopes is that the summit will foster and facilitate and ongoing conversation that brings together all levels of the food industry.
Day two of the summit will coincide with the Louisiana Seafood Cook-Off a the Cajundome Convention Center in Lafayette.
Presentations will be made throughout the day on Tuesday, ending with the Taste of EatLafayette.
