Tonight, police officers will take time to meet with residents of the Rue Royale neighborhood in Lafayette.

Officers will walk through neighborhoods in the 1200 block of E. Pont Des Mouton Rd. at 6:00 p.m.

It’s part of the police department’s mission to let people know they’re available when needed.

Chief Toby Aguillard, Deputy Chief Reginald Thomas along with the command staff and police officers will be walking the neighborhood to visit with residents, listen to any concerns and introduce themselves. The community is invited to walk the neighborhood with them as they continue in efforts in bridging the gap between law enforcement and the community.

Following the community walk, barbecue burgers and drinks will be served to the public at Brown Park courtesy of the Police Association of Lafayette #905.

The walk will start at Brown Park Recreation Center located at 1234 E. Pont Des Mouton Road.
