Rachel Brown appointed as new LHS principal

Rachel Brown has been appointed principal of Lafayette High School.

Brown earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree and a Bachelor of Science Degree from UL-Lafayette. She earned a Master of Deaf Education Degree from the University of New Orleans and a Ph.D. in Education, Curriculum and Instruction from Capella University.

Brown taught for ten years at Lafayette High School. She went on to serve as an assistant principal at the Louisiana School for the Deaf. She then returned to Lafayette High School as an assistant principal.

Brown has been nominated twice for the Lafayette Education Foundation Teacher Award. She has published professional research articles on topics such as leadership, bilingual education, and special education. Brown also teaches American Sign Language to children and adults.
