Communication District seeks public comment for accreditation

A team of accreditation assessors will be visiting later this month to review the Lafayette Parish Communication District for possible accreditation.

The team, from the Commission on Accreditation of Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc., will arrive June 23, 2019 to examine all aspects of the Lafayette Parish Communication District’s policy and procedures, management, operations, and support services, said Craig Stansbury, Director of the Lafayette Parish Communication District.

Verification by the team that the Lafayette Parish Communication District meets the Commission’s state-of-the-art standards is part of a voluntary process to gain accreditation – a highly prized recognition of public safety professional excellence. The Lafayette Parish Communication District was awarded initial accreditation November 21, 2009.

As part of the on-site assessment, agency employees and members of the community are invited to offer comments by calling (337) 291-5078 on Monday, June 24, 2019 between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. Comments will be taken by the Assessment Team.

Telephone comments are limited to 10 minutes and must address the agency’s ability to comply with CALEA Standards. A copy of the Standards is available at the Lafayette Parish Communication District. Local contact is Linda Lavergne at (337) 291-5060.
