The American Red Cross, in partnership with Our Savior’s Church, are hosting a shelter fundamentals class on Saturday, June 8 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The training, being held at the Broussard Campus of Our Savior’s Church, located at 655 Highway 96, Broussard, LA 70518, is free and open to the public to participate in.

Shelter Fundamentals is a basic level course that introduces the guidelines and procedures for setting up, running and closing a shelter during a disaster. Referencing shelter checklists, participants will work on a case study that takes them through four of the six phases of the Sheltering Cycle: Opening, Organizing, Operating and Closing. We will also be offering all of the required classes that go with this as well. The day will be a variety of instructor-led and facilitated online courses.

Participants are asked to bring their lunch to participate in a working lunch during the course.
