Today, the City of Scott broke ground on a new “traditional neighborhood development” off of Old Spanish Trail in the city.

West Village is the first traditional neighborhood development in the city and will include a variety of residential homes, restaurants, retail, and office spaces.

City officials say that the neighborhood is expected to take 5 to 7 years to complete. Infrastructure work has already begun and the first home construction is slated to begin in within the next 12 months.

West Village is developed by Cottage Developers LCC in partnership with Robert and Jordan Daigle. Robert co-developed other projects in Lafayette Parish including River Ranch, Sugar Mill Pond, and Couret Farms, according to a release.

The groundbreaking ceremony was held on Friday at 8:00 am. Below is a map of where the West Village development is located.
