UPDATE: Organizers of the popular children’s entrepreneurial program, Lemonade Day Louisiana, are extending the typically one-day event into a weekend extravaganza due to unfavorable weather forecasts in parts of Louisiana on Saturday.
Participants who will be affected by rain on Saturday, May 4, are encouraged to move their stands inside or plan to set up their lemonade stands on Sunday, May 5. Lemonade Day Louisiana will take place statewide on May 4-5, 2019.
Some participants didn’t let Saturday’s gloomy weather stop them from setting up shop. Owners of Pete the Cat’s Awesome Lemonade sold lemonade and muffins in Lafayette.

Young entrepreneurs across Lafayette are set to take part in the ninth annual Lemonade Day Louisiana on Saturday, May 4. This event, created in 2010, gives children across Louisiana the opportunity to own and operate lemonade stands while learning critical skills that translate to entrepreneurial success. Participants are given lessons on entrepreneurship, budgeting, and advertising while creating their very own lemonade stand.
Lafayette Mayor-President Joel Robideaux has proclaimed May 4th Lemonade Day and urges the entire Lafayette community to support lemonade stands that will be located throughout the Greater Lafayette area on Saturday, May 4th.
This year, you can register for Lemonade Day Louisiana online at louisiana.lemonadeday.org or at any Louisiana based Raising Cane’s locations. The online registration process has been ‘freshly upgraded’ to be more user-friendly for parents and guardians.
The annual event was introduced to Louisiana in 2010 by entrepreneurs Todd Graves, Raising Cane’s President/CEO and John Georges, Georges Enterprises CEO.
“Since opening my first restaurant in 1996, it has been a dream of mine to introduce the important values of entrepreneurship to children around Louisiana,” said Graves. “It is a true testament to the strength of our communities that over 200,000 young entrepreneurs have taken advantage of this great program in just eight years. With your help, we can make Lemonade Day Louisiana 2019 the best yet. I encourage everyone to support these future business leaders in Lafayette.”
Registration and participation are free, and all youngsters are encouraged to participate.
