Ascension Parish Sheriff’s deputies have arrested a Lafayette man and accused him of defrauding a flood victim.
Ellis St. Pierre, 37, was booked with residential contractor fraud on Friday, a Facebook post by the sheriff’s office states.
Sheriff Bobby Webre says his Financial Crimes Unit arrested St. Pierre after an investigation into a $40,000 payment he received to repair a flood-damaged home in 2017. No work was ever completed, the sheriff says. St. Pierre’s business partner refunded the victim $20,000, the the rest of the money wasn’t ever paid back, the sheriff said.
St. Pierre was booked into the Ascension Parish Jail and posted a $20,000 bond.
