The Louisiana Workforce Commission and LEDA hosted a job fair today.

The event was designed to help workers displaced by the recent Walmart closure on the Northside of Lafayette, but other workers looking for a job also were welcome.

Employers were set up at the Martin Luther King Center on Cora Drive all morning to meet with interested workers.

The LWC offers employers across Louisiana the opportunity to participate in On-the-Job Training. That is a federally funded program via the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act which enables employers to hire and train skilled workers at a reduced overall cost. Additionally, the program allows employers to train the right workers to meet their specific needs.
