Policy requirements for non-public school students entering public schools

Posted at
and last updated

The Louisiana Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE) policy requires transfer students to public schools seeking placement in grades 5 and 9 to take English Language Arts and Mathematics portions of the State Placement Test. The results inform grade and class placement.

The test is a computer-based assessment that measures students’ knowledge and skills in English Language Arts (ELA) and Math pursuant to Louisiana Student Standards in grades 4 and 8. Each subject has three timed sessions. Students must complete each session on the day it is started. There will be 2 sessions per day for a total of 3 days.

Parents of non-public students must contact Nekita Bourne (337-521-7097) in the Student Services Department to schedule a testing date.
