The Lafayette Parish School Board has chosen a calendar for the next school year.
The 5A calendar was chosen on a 7-2 vote
Under this calendar, the school year will begin on August 15, 2019, and the last day will be May 28, 2020.
In December, the Lafayette Parish School Board narrowed down the options for next year’s school calendar.
Board members asked staff to check the instructional minutes in the proposed calendars to make sure LPSS was following state law regarding how many minutes students receive during the school year.
The proposed calendars maintain traditional holiday breaks and finish school before June. Staff was able to do this by adjusting the number of professional development days and emergency closure days.
The board will review the revised proposals at its January 16 meeting.
