The cold weather won’t stop swimmers with City of Lafayette Aquatics from taking part in the annual Polar Bear Swim.
The swim-a-thon fundraiser relies on sponsors who pay by how many laps the participants can swim.
This year, the children tried breaking the bank by swimming the maximum 200 laps.
“In the summertime, we really kick off our swimming lessons and in March we kick off a spring session here,” said Sarah Landreneau, City of Lafayette Aquatics. “In the summer we also have a great program called Sal’s summer of swim that we do, and we also have summer swim team for the kids to join.”
