The Diocese of Lafayette will close its 100-year celebration tonight, Wednesday, December 12, with a Centennial Closing Mass at the Cajundome Convention Center.

Doors to the Convention Center will open at 4:30 pm to allow those attending to browse through the Diocese’s collection of historical artifacts from the Diocesan Archives. These artifacts, according to the Diocese, chronicle the church’s first 100 years.

Mass begins at 6:00 pm. A reception will follow immediately after.

The Diocese has made available special seating for disabled guests and a sign language interpreter for those who are hearing impaired.

The Mass is set to honor the many cultures and nationalities that have shaped the Diocese through its 100 years. It will also honor the Feast Day of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

The Intercessions (Prayers of the Faithful) will be read in all of the languages spoken in the Diocese over the past century.
