You will soon see the bell ringers and red kettles out all across Acadiana this holiday season.

The Salvation Army of Lafayette held a kick-off ceremony for its Red Kettle Fundraiser.

Every year the organization raises money to provide shelter and feed people in need, as well as offer services during Christmas. It is the biggest fundraiser for the organization.

“We’d just like to encourage everyone to come out because it really does make such a difference in the lives of all of those that we touch,” said Lt. Samantha McGee, Salvation Army.

The week before Thanksgiving, The Salvation Army’s signature Red Kettles and bell-ringers can be spotted at numerous stores throughout the Lafayette area.

All of the funds generated through the Red Kettles stay right here in our community to support our Christmas assistance and food programs.

“This project represents the community spirit of giving at its best— through the funds that are raised and the hundreds of volunteers who make this effort possible,” the Salvation Army says on its website.
