In Lafayette, friends and family are paying tribute to the 28-year-old boxer shot and killed Saturday night.

More than 100 people attended a vigil for Brandon Broussard at the Backstreet Boxing Club in Carencro.

Broussard is being remembered as a great father, brother and mentor.

“God blessed me with Brandon for 28 years. He loved me enough. That child loved me with all his heart and soul. And you know what I gave it back to him. So right now all I ‘m doing is mourning. I don’t feel no guilt. Because I know I did good by him,” said Barbara Broussard, the victim’s mother.

So far, no arrests have been made in Broussard’s death. Family members are pleading for anyone with information to call the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office.

“If you know who did this and you aren’t saying anything, then you are the problem. I want you all to look at my family, you see the pain in their eyes,” said another relative at the vigil.
