Sunday night, soul musician John Potier was honored at The Brass Room in Lafayette.
Potier, who died last year, played with the drifters Joe Tex and Bobby “Blue” Bland during his career.
A number of bands were on hand to pay tribute to the late musician.
Pillars of Hope which organized the tribute says they hope to keep his legacy alive.
“We have a tribute to the late great Mr. John Potier. He’s a jazz artist, I mean he’s been so good in the community, he’s been doing this for so long and in memory of him it will be two years come January he has passed away. So we want to show our love for all that he has done for his communities,” said Mary Chevalier President of Pillars of Hope.
