Happening today, the Lafayette Public Library Board of Control will meet for the first time since the drama surrounding the drag queen story time event began.

The regular board meeting will be held on the second floor of the Main Branch of the Lafayette Public Library in Downtown Lafayette.

The group will meet ahead of tomorrow’s Lafayette City-Parish Council meeting.

A  resolution co-sponsored by Councilmen Williams Theriot and Jared Bellard opposing the upcoming Drag Queen Story Time will be addressed at Tuesday’s city-parish council meeting.

Organizers of the library event say they see the story time as a means of promoting acceptance of people that defy rigid gender restrictions.

Drag Queen Story Time is still scheduled to take place on October 6.
