The Scott Fire Department is getting a helping hand to keep firefighters safe.
The department is receiving new bunker gear through an Assistance to Firefighters grant.
These grants help firefighters stay safe by giving them money to help them deal with fire-related hazards.
“We had two firefighters that were injured last year, so we wrote a grant to FEMA, expressing our need for financial assistance to obtain these 42 sets of gear, and we were successful,” said Scott Fire Chief Chad Sonnier.
