Many horse owners and trainers are down to the final hours to move out of the Evangeline Training Center in Carencro.
Those who use the facility were notified last month that they must be out by August 15. The facility’s owner, Carrol Castille, is shutting down the training center located at the Old Evangeline Downs Racetrack site.
Castille cites new standards set by the Environmental Protection Agency for the closure.
Mary Morgan-Huebner, spokesperson for Castille, says “Everyone will be gone by midnight tomorrow night.”
The business has reportedly been operating at a loss for more than five years. Morgan-Huebner told KATC in a previous interview, “this decision was not made lightly.”
As for the future of the property, Castille Investments is considering re-developing or selling it.
