A fully automatic assault rifle and a .45 caliber semi-automatic handgun were seized Friday as part of a shooting investigation, The Lafayette Sheriff’s Office says.
Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division arrested 18-year-old Gage Christopher Rochelle in connection to a June 16 shooting in the 200 block of Crooked Creek in Lafayette.
Rochelle, a resident of St. Martinville, is charged with aggravated criminal damage to property for the shooting, in which the fully automatic and semi-automatic firearms seized by detectives were used. At the time of the incident, shots were allegedly fired into a residence occupied by two adults and two children, a press release states.
No one was injured.
Rochelle was being held in the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on a $25,000 bond for unrelated charges at the time of his arrest.
The investigation is ongoing.
