Lafayette City Marshal Brian Pope reports for community service

Lafayette City Marshal Brian Pope arrived at the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office this morning for litter abatement community service work.

Individuals who participate in litter abatement have been sentenced to 15th Judicial District Court Misdemeanor Probation.

Pope is currently awaiting trial on two counts of perjury and five counts of malfeasance in office. In total, he faces up to 35 years in prison and fines of up to $45,000 if convicted on the charges.

All individuals reporting for community service will work an 8-hour shift unless mandated to work less.

Pope will appear in court on Monday.
