Jeff Davis Sheriff officials are looking at moving into their new facility at the beginning of March.
A spokesman with the sheriff’s department says that the $10 million facility is almost completed. According to the department, contractors are currently going through a “punch list” that must be completed in the next 45 days. The new facility is located on a 17.5-acre site off U.S. 90 to the west of Jennings.
The department says the facility includes a central control room, separate recreation yards for male and female
inmates, isolation cells and a vehicular sally port.
While construction was originally planned to be completed by August of 2018, inclement weather and other delays put the project behind schedule
