A Loreauville woman has been arrested, accused of theft and fraud of a local business.

The Daily Iberian reports that Eppie Martin, or Eppie Broussard, a former business manager for a company in New Iberia is now in jail, accused of aiding in the theft of $500,000 from that company.

Martin is currently in the Iberia Parish jail on computer fraud, bank fraud and theft.

Detectives with the New Iberia Police Department tell the Iberian that Martin allegedly wrote several unauthorized checks from the company’s checking account and would then alter the financial ledger electronically to cover up the theft.

Her bond is set at $375,000.

More arrests are expected.
