Marshal’s office makes arrest at Jeanerette car wash, seize $8000 in narcotics

A Jeanerette man has been arrested, booked into the Iberia Parish jail for allegedly being in possession of narcotics estimated at $8,000.

Fernest “Pacman” Martin says that on November 21, 2018 at approximately 11:30 a.m. the Jeanerette Marshal’s
Office arrested 26 year-old Marcus Alexis of Jeanerette on charges of possession with intent to distribute.

The Jeanerette Marshal’s Office says they observed what was believed to be some type of illegal activity occurring at a local car wash in the city. After approaching Alexis, the marshal deputies observed a black back pack on the rear seat of Alexis’ vehicle containing what is believed to be marijuana.

Officials say Alexis attempted to flee from the officers but was unable to do so.

The estimated street value of the narcotics seized is approximately $8000 in street value, according to a release.

Alexis is charged with possession with the intent to distribute schedule 1, possession with the intent to distribute
schedule 2, possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance, monies derived from a
drug sale, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was transported to the Iberia parish Jail were he is awaiting arraignment.
