Deputies say 57-year-old Eddie Holsomback and 57-year-old Deborah Blake were arrested and booked into the Evangeline Parish Jail on one count each of Arson with Intent to Defraud and Criminal Conspiracy.

On March 13, the Fire Marshal’s Office responded to a truck fire in the 17000 block of Hwy 167 N. in Cheneyville.

In determining the cause of the fire, investigators uncovered multiple areas where the fire originated and determined the fire was intentionally set.

The truck had also been reported stolen three days prior to the fire.

Evidence collected during the investigation led deputies to identify Holsomback and Blake persons of interest in the case. Holsomback is reportedly a relative of the truck’s owner.

During interviews with investigators, deputies say that Blake and Holsomback allegedly admitted to their roles in taking the truck and setting it on fire.

Both suspects were arrested and booked in connection with the crime.
