The inaugural elderly awareness program provided information and resources to the elderly of Church Point.

Organizers say the turnout Thursday was great and helped provide information to elderly community members on medical healthcare that is available to them.

“In one day they can learn so much and take so much information home with them,” Mark Majors CEO and Manager of MedExpress said. “Many people are just learning who we are…and what our company is all about.”

The event took place at the Church Point Community Center and featured guest speakers, information for senior citizens.

Organizers say they are glad to help make a difference in the rural community medical treatment and push the needle on what is available.

“there are other options now,” Majors said. “That is a really satisfying feeling.”

The program was a joint effort with officials of Church Point and Acadia and St. Landry Parish hospitals.
