Church Point Police gave an update on the investigation that began Wednesday night following a shooting on Martin Luther King Drive.
Police Chief Dale Thibodeaux says that the department received several calls around 6:00 pm regarding the shooting. Police learned upon arrival that a person had been shot in the head.
That person was reportedly taken by family members to Acadia St. Landry Hospital for treatment. Police say the victim was stabilized and it was discovered that the bullet grazed his scalp. After treatment, the victim was released from the hospital.
An investigation into the shooting is ongoing. Arrests are pending in the case.
Chief Thibodeaux says that officers will be aggressively patrolling and that all suspects caught shooting or possessing a firearm will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
