Coast Guard searching for person in Gulf of Mexico

The United States Coast Guard is searching for a person that went overboard in the Gulf of Mexico.

According to Petty Officer Brandon Giles, the call came in from platform workers around 6:26 am Wednesday.

The Coast Guard says a 54-year-old man entered the water at the Eugene Island 331 platform in the Gulf of Mexico located 75 nautical miles off Vermilion Bay, Louisiana, Wednesday.

The cause of the incident is under investigation.

  • Coast Guard Aviation Training Center Mobile HC-144 Ocean Sentry aircrew
  • Coast Guard Cutter Mako boatcrew
