MORGAN CITY, La. – The National Weather Service (NWS) and St.Mary Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness are offering Skywarn observer training to anyone interested in becoming severe weather spotters.
The training covers the basics of thunderstorm development and structure.
Topics covered in the class are severe weather safety tips, local severe storm history, cloud formation vs. type of severe weather and how to report severe weather to NWS.
The class begins at 9 a.m. at the Port of Morgan City Emergency Operations Center, 7327 Hwy. 182 in Morgan City on March 25.
The class is free and open to the public.
