Police in the Town of Church Point are crediting the relationship between officers and citizens as the reason for the recent reported decrease in crime.

The recently released FBI Uniform Crime Report shows that the number of reported crimes dropped in 2019 when compared to 2018. Instances of theft, rape, robbery all saw a decrease while crimes like aggravated assault and murder showed an increase between the two years.

In a post on Facebook, the department says that proactive police officers and cooperation between officers and citizens is a leading cause for crime decrease.

They say their goal is to continue to decrease the crime rate by hiring trained professional law enforcement that citizens can be proud of.
