ESTHERWOOD — Village officials are waiting on a grant to pay for the removal of graffiti from the an abandoned water tower.
As we reported on June 25, an 18-year-old was cited after residents discovered the phrase "Trump 2020" spray painted on the abandoned tower and a Confederate battle flag hanging from the structure.
According to police chief Wayne Welsh, village workers will perform two tasks during their cleanup.
"When they come down (from the cleaning the tower), they will cut off half of the ladder so nobody can go up there," Welsh said.
No timetable has been set for cleaning the graffiti or for the water tower's demolition.
