The Acadia Parish Police Jury and the Acadia Parish Office of Homeland Security are once again urging all citizens to conserve on water as much as possible tonight and over the next few days.

Additionally, city officials ask that residents completely shut off water when not in use and inspect property for any leaks immediately. If you have broken pipes or other leaks and need help in shutting off your water, contact your water districts.

Record-breaking temperatures have caused a spike in water usage, inhibiting water systems from catching up to normal every-day water pressure. Reducing water usage, turning off water valves, and locating any leaks will allow water systems to regain ample water pressure levels parish-wide. Until water systems are producing more water than distributing, water service will remain limited. Citizens are asked to turn off any faucets running overnight, reduce dishwasher and washing machine usage, and reduce time spent showering.

The Acadia Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness has issued a reminder that freezing temperatures will continue over the next few days and the longer it takes for systems to pressurize, the longer everyone will be without sufficient water service.

Any parish-level questions regarding water systems can be sent to the Director of the Acadia Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness Ashley LeBlanc at acadiaohsep@appj.org or call 337-783-4357. For assistance with your water valves or any related questions, contact your local water district.
