The city of Jeanerette swore in a new mayor today in a ceremony that took place at Jeanerette Sr. High School at 4:00 p.m.
Carol Bourgeois Jr. takes the position over for embattled mayor April Foulcard.
The state recently took over the city’s finances after three years with no audits.
In April, the mayor said that fixing the city’s issues will take help from the community.
