BATON ROUGE–Bad news for golf cart owners and drivers in Church Point.

A bill that would have allowed those golf carts to cross LA 35 and other state highways within Church Point town limits legally has been rejected by Governor John Bel Edwards. That bill was one of six from the 2019 legislative session that Edwards has vetoed so far.

Lawmakers could override the veto if they choose to hold a veto session. A veto session has never happened since the current Louisiana Constitution took effect in 1975.
