NATCHITOCHES (KATC) – Peyton Manning headlines the 2019 Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame class, and this honor is all about family.

Speaking Friday ahead of his induction, Peyton spoke about being at his son’s flag football game Sunday, spoke about his father Archie and recalled his playing days at Newman where he played alongside his older brother, Cooper.

“I can’t remember the actual statistics, but it seems like I completed 12 pass, and 90 of them went to my brother,” he remembers. “The other receivers weren’t too crazy about that but he was our best player, and I was smart enough to know good things happen when I threw him the ball.”

Manning joins his father Archie in Louisiana’s hall, only the third father-son duo joining Bud and Bert Jones, and Glen and Billy Hardin.

Manning was with his dad in 1988 when he was inducted.

“I was here that night. This was not here, as Doug (Ireland) and I were talking about,” Manning recalled. “What an impressive display (this is,) but I remember being in Natchitoches that night. Terry Bradshaw was inducted, I believe Elvin Hayes was inducted. To be one of three father-son combinations to be in the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame, I can’t tell you what a thrill that is.”
