Dozens of students are stepping out of the classroom and into the community to learn.
Students enrolled in the Vermilion Parish Schools ELL/Migrant Summer Camp spent the morning at the Abbeville Fire Department. Firemen were on hand to talk to the children about fire safety.
The Vermilion Parish Bilingual Program serves about 300 ELL (English Language Learners) annually. There are eight bilingual tutors who are trained to work with the students.
