State Police investigating Baton Rouge officer-involved shooting

Louisiana State Police say they are now investigating, following an officer-involved shooting in Baton Rouge where one person was injured.

Troopers say that On April 15, 2019, Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigation was contacted by the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office (EBRSO) to investigate a shooting incident involving one of their deputies.

An investigation revealed that shortly before 7:30 pm, an EBRSO deputy responded to a call regarding a suspicious vehicle parked behind a business in the 5000 block of Jones Creek Road.

After coming into contact with an occupant of the vehicle, Troopers say the deputy fired his gun, hitting the person inside the vehicle.

That individual was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The deputy was uninjured.

The Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigation says they were contacted to investigate and gather all facts surrounding the incident. Louisiana State Police Troop A is assisting in the investigation.

The investigation is ongoing.
