Trump nominates Louisiana native as Cabo Verde ambassador

President Donald Trump is expected to nominate a Louisiana native as Ambassador to Cabo Verde.

The White House announced on Tuesday that President Trump intends to nominate John Jefferson Daigle to the position of Ambassador of United States of America to the Republic of Cabo Verde.

Daigle currently serves on detail as the Designated Federal Official for the United States Advisory Commission on Public Diplomacy, according to a release.

The intent to nominate is among three others to ambassador positions. Those other nominations include Ambassador to the United Mexican States, the Slovak Republic, and Turkmenistan.

Previously, Mr. Daigle served as the Executive Assistant in the Office of the Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs, Deputy Coordinator in the Bureau of International Information Programs, Deputy Chief of Mission in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, and as Public Diplomacy Officer on the Babil Provincial Reconstruction Team in Iraq.

Daigle is an LSU graduate.
