The town of Erath has hired a collection agency to get past due utility bills paid.
According to the Abbeville Meridional, Erath aldermen approved to hire American Municipal Service (AMS) Collection Agency, which is the same collection agency the Village of Maurice and Kaplan use.
Starting soon, AMS will begin collecting money owed to the town, and the town will not have to pay the collection agency a penny. AMS will charge the delinquent customer a fee instead of billing the town.
