Today’s Cool School is L.J. Alleman Arts Academy!

Every year the Trojans participate in the “Miller Olympics”! Each class is assigned a random country to represent for 3-4 weeks. During that time, they compete against the other classes in track and field type events.

Each class draws and paints their country’s flag. Those hang in the gym for all to see to display the skill that our students have here at the Arts Academy . As the teams compete they move the flags up and down the standings pole.

When they’ve selected a country, they’ll research what the national animal is and that becomes the mascot for the rest of the unit. They’ll research other things about their country and which Olympic sports certain countries are historically good at.

At the end of the day, it’s unit is a great way to get kids excited about physical fitness, competition, and team, or country, spirit. All of which are extreme needs for our youth today.
