For the first time, Festival International de Louisiane is releasing a handful of bands early! The third artist leak is Girme Bèyènè & Akalé Wubé (Ethiopia/France) for the 2019 Festival International de Louisiane musical lineup.
Girma Bèyènè is a true legend when it comes to Ethiopian music. After an exile to the United States and a radio silence that lasted 25 years, he jubilantly accepted the invitation from the French group Akalé Wubé to return to the spotlight and perform again.
“We are really excited for Lafayette to get a taste of Girme Bèyènè & Akalé Wubé at Festival 2019.” says Carly Viator, Marketing Coordinator for Festival International de Louisiane. “Our festival is all about intertwining and sharing cultures, and this group is the perfect example of that concept. They are this fusion of Ethiopia and France coming together and creating something unique and groovy!” adds Viator.

This year’s festival takes place April 24 – Apr 28, 2019 in downtown Lafayette. More artists will be announced in the coming weeks leading up to the full release of the official lineup on February 22.
