The YLafayette Sign is being repainted in honor of Black History Month.
Members of the Mccomb-Veazey Neighborhood Coterie and others met this morning at Parc Sans Souci with their paint and brushes to revitalize the iconic sign.
If you’re not familiar with the sign located downtown, individual big letters spell out Lafayette, but the ‘y’ in Lafayette is missing. In place of the ‘y,’ people pose for pictures, making the shape of a ‘y’ with their arms.
The bigger picture poses the question: Why Lafayette? The question can be answered in several different ways!
