The Program Vigilantes on the Bayou depicts a violent era in the history of South Louisiana, in which American, Creole, and Acadian Landowners struggled against each other over ownership and usage of the land bordering the Bayou Teche, and other regions of what is now Acadiana.

Re-enactors portraying Vigilantes and Anti-Vigilantes will set up mock campsites, engage in living history reenactments, civilian and military demonstrations, and the firing of black powder weapons and cannons.

The event will culminate in two mock battles on January 26th at 11am and 1pm between the two opposing forces, followed by a public dialogue discussing this important period in South Louisiana culture.
