Crews cleaning nonhazardous chemical spill on Hwy 90 East near Jeanerette

UPDATE: The St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office says that the on-ramp from LA 318 to U.S. Hwy 90 East remains closed at this time as crews work to clean a nonhazardous chemical spill. The spill occurred on Wednesday morning.

The clean-up is expected to take around 3 hours to complete.

Motorists can expect cleaning crews to be in the area until around 1:00 pm.

Traffic has been reduced to one lane on Highway 90 east at Highway 318.  Emergency officials say this is a nonhazardous chemical spill.   Louisiana State Police Haz-Mat clean-up crew is en route.

Motorists are advised to slow down and to be mindful of emergency personnel working in the area. There was no timeframe given as to when the roadway would fully reopen.
