Three schools in Erath are celebrating a milestone. Dozier Elementary, Erath Middle and Erath High schools all received an “A” letter grade and were ranked in the top in Vermilion Parish and the state.

A superhero theme can be seen throughout Shana LeBlanc’s third-grade class at Dozier Elementary.  LeBlanc chose the theme to prove a point to her students. It’s a way to show them not all heroes wear capes and masks.

“The classroom theme is super heroes,” LeBlanc said. “A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles. Every teacher and every student will have obstacles to face.

She added, “If they truly believe in their heart that they’re truly a super hero then that leads to grades.”

Grades that helped Dozier Elementary become one of the district’s three “A” schools.

“It’s just a testament of us all working together at every level,” Principal Karla Toups said.

If you ask the students, the real superheroes are their teachers.

“They make it easier to understand new things,” student Pierce LeBlanc said.

LeBlanc added, “It makes me feel appreciated. Makes me wake up each morning and wanting to do it better each day. Even though we have those obstacles, we’re still going to go to school because there’s at least one kid in the class that’s depending on you.”
