Vermilion Parish School Board members are gearing up for a special meeting tonight.
The district’s budget is on the agenda. Last month, the board’s chief financial officer told board members they were facing a shortfall of more than $1 million. The board has until September 15 to pass a spending plan.
Board members will also take up action to hire attorney J. Mark Robinson as outside counsel to file suit to clarify who has the legal authority to hire the board attorney. The resolution argues that suspended superintendent Jerome Puyau did not have the authority to hire Kathy Boudreaux without the board’s approval. Robinson was hired just to file suit for the clarification not to replace Boudreaux.
