The Louisiana part of the National Water Trails System unveiled the first of what is hoped to be many informational kiosks along the trail today.

The Bayou Teche Paddle Trail is a 135-mile long trail that stretches from Port Barre through four parishes, ending in Berwick. The trail has a total of 13 established access points which provide access to paddle trips as short as 7 miles or as long as its 135 miles.

The first kiosk was unveiled in Breaux Bridge today. They’re planned for all the access points, and will include maps, safety tips and information about the history of the area.
